Mission command is the heartbeat of military operations: It’s directing capabilities, maintaining situational awareness and providing critical information for fast-paced decision-making – and more. Whether it’s the ability to better track forces, both enemy and friendly, or to accurately maneuver and execute fires, mission command is at the crux of every move troops make in the theater. And the tempo is constantly evolving.

As PEO-C3T notes, PM Mission Command also has evolved. The PM in recent months merged with Joint Battle Command-Platform (JBC-P) to “create a single, enhanced organization that is providing interoperable command post and mounted capabilities to the soldier,” officials state. PM Mission Command also gained new leader in the summer of 2016, Col. Troy Crosby, who is continuing the mission to simplify the network and provide soldiers critical information at their fingertips. A major part of that mission is aligning the user interfaces of soldiers’ devices into a uniform experience regardless of device or location – easing training burdens and making IT more intuitive.
